Overview
Giving its debut to students in August 2020, Pigeon Forge Intermediate School in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is a fresh, new addition to the Sevier County School System.
The school’s opening happened at an opportune time for students, welcoming them at the start of a brand new fall semester. General contractor Alliance Corporation partnered with the Knoxville-based firm Barber McMurry Architects to complete the main campus.
Tennessee Valley Metals added a needed architectural complement to the building, flanking the exterior with several single-post style canopies. The canopy was made from extruded aluminum materials adorned with an AAMA 2604 2-Coat Kynar TVM bronze finish.
Supported by 6 x 8” and 6 x 10” columns, the canopy was specially designed to improve school drop-off and pick-up experiences. The TVM-unique extruded deck style features a 6” flat pan interlock system and 6” side fascia profile for a weather-proof “walk and wait” area, which conveniently leads up to designated school entrances. The canopy also houses 6 x 8” and 6 x 10” drain beams, along with same-length tube beams for lighting.
TVM’s canopies now rest in five strategic places on the new campus, offering 400 lineal feet of coverage. At some points 10 feet across in width coverage, the canopies are made to stand up to weather and wear. Their welded bents boast impressive 6 x 6” brackets.
Tennessee Valley Metals is proud to have taken part in Sevier County School System’s newest school building project. Our contribution may be curbside, but it counts. We hope our canopies continue to serve parents, teachers, and students well for years to come—and shelter those who are on their way to teach, learn, and grow.
